Magic Table comes to Wareham Plus

Wareham Plus has been trying out its new ‘Magic Table’ – a piece of interactive technology which helps to stimulate and engage people living with dementia.

The main premise of the equipment is that it’s a projector beaming easily identifiable images down onto a table, floor or other type of surface. The images are highly interactive and this increases mental stimulation and interaction.

Wareham Plus manager Terri Brooks said one client had enjoyed a foot spa while watching fish move on a sea/ aquarium setting projected on to the floor and listening to the relaxing music it played.

“This was very therapeutic and excellent for as a sensory activity,” said Terri.

“The providers have been in touch again and we have some more training to show us how to update the device as they are continually making new games or activities. The support they give is excellent."
